The U.S. Social Security System Holds $3,000 Billion In U.S. IOU Debt Notes

Posted on February 27, 2016 John Abood

If you are wondering where your social security payments have gone – they went to fund other U.S. government programs. The Congress and the President took your Social Security retirement payments and spent your money on other government programs. Instead of retirement funds, the Social Security system holds $3,000 billion in government IOUs. The worst part is, our Congress has no reasonable plan to pay this debt. Congress has to borrow more money each year (increasing our national debt) to return your Social Security payments and entitlements to you.
