The Individual and the State

Choose from 5 political views

The state is the focus of individuals and the state will provide for individuals.

The state is a focus of individuals because individuals use the power of the state to provide for themselves.

The private realm is the focus of individuals who understand that the state is established to protect their faculties and regulate the private realm.

The private realm is the focus of individuals who understand that the state is established to protect their faculties, provide security and lightly regulate the private realm.

The private realm is the focus of individuals and the private realm will provide all that individuals require. Government should be limited to security and only those authorities we give to government.

Character

Choose from 5 political views

Our society (the state and a state controlled private sector) influences character standards regarding individual virtue and ideals. The state’s diverse identity standards prevail over private realm standards.

The state is in the best position to set character standards for the people. Private realm institutions should support the state’s character standards.

The parents of an individual and their community show (by example) the best virtues and ideals for character. They teach an individual the best virtues and ideals that the family and community share.

The individual looks at their parent's ideals and virtues, and their community ideals and virtues, and they emulate those most successful ideals and virtues.

The individual perceives what they believe are ideal character traits and they work to become the individual they want to be.

Individual Faculties

Choose from 5 political views

The state should control the application of our faculties (which includes character) and our wealth, to assure an equal outcome between groups, because we have a diverse population with differing faculties and wealth.

The state should adjust the wealth developed from the application of your faculties and your labor, by redistributing your wealth to other groups who apply fewer faculties or apply less character.

A group of individuals agrees to provide some of their wealth and property (derived from the application of individual faculties) and redistributes some wealth to support the national general welfare.

The individual is free to apply all their faculties as they wish. They voluntarily provide some of their wealth to support their local general welfare

The individual is free to use all their faculties as they wish, to achieve their identity and to assure their safety and their happiness. The state protects this right and requires little from this individual.

Individual Identity and The State

Choose from 5 political views

The state loves all individuals equally and will treat all character values, identities and behaviors the same, ensuring equal social and economic outcomes for all.

The state should control and adjust majority rule and the rule of law to prevent a majority (at the national or state level) from applying their sense of good or bad identity or behavior upon anyone. There is no room in a republic for a majority to sanctify the cultural values (laws) that as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

We have a diverse population living in a republic. We must protect political rights while protecting a reasonable majority rule and the rule of law. The majority rules with some tolerance, and those in the minority may continue to persuade and discuss.

We have a diverse population living in a republic. We must protect political rights while protecting a reasonable shared-culture majority rule and the rule of law. The integrated shared-culture-majority rules, and those in the minority should respect the reasonable rule of the majority.

We live in a republic. We protect political rights while also protecting majority rule and the rule of law. The majority rules and those in the minority must respect their decision, until they can convince a majority that their sense of identity is worthy of promotion.

Freedom

Choose from 5 political views

The state should not permit private realm institutions and should control individual character and faculties - to assure fair and equal outcomes among groups, within a diverse population with differing character and faculties.

The state should limit private realm institutions and the freedom of individuals to consciously effect their safety and happiness - in order to assure greater equality of distributive outcomes among individuals.

The private realm should encourage the freedom of individuals to effect their safety and happiness, within our diverse community. Individuals should be tolerant of a somewhat wider public standard of freedom than their private conscience may approve.

The sovereign individual has inherent freedom to live their personal life as they think is most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Even the state advocates improved character and self-sacrifice from those who are limited in good character.

The individual is free to use their character and all their faculties as they wish - to effect their identity, their safety and their happiness. The state always protects this freedom to use their character and faculties as they wish.

Liberty

Choose from 5 political views

Our national authorities should determine what laws and regulations are most wholesome and necessary for our nation. The laws should be written to assure equality and fairness for all groups.

The state should limit (via laws and regulation) private realm institutions and the freedom of individuals to consciously effect their safety and happiness, by creating new rights, new offices, new regulations and many officers to control the people.

The private realm encourages the liberty of individuals to effect their safety and happiness, within a diverse community. The majority is somewhat tolerant of a wider public standard of freedom than their private conscience may approve.

The sovereign individual has inherent liberty to approve laws that as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. The majority expects a loyal minority in recognition of a reasonable majority in our republic.

The individual is free to apply their most virtuous character values as they seek to build their society. The state always protects this republican liberty of conscience and majority rule.

The Role of Government

Choose from 5 political views

I believe the state must assure each individual receives equal care (from the state) without consideration of their work ethic, personal responsibility or personal self-sacrifice.

I believe the state should assist those who are relatively in need and use the property and wealth of others to engineer social and economic progress for all.

I believe the individual lives in a society of individuals, and a creative balance must be found between protecting the faculties and wealth of the individual and caring for those who are absolutely and truly in need.

I believe the individual comes first and that individuals will insist that those who receive property, through the generosity of others, also practice good character and personal responsibility as a quid pro quo.

I believe the individual and their property must be protected from those who will use the power of the state to re-distribute their wealth and property.

Individuals and communities form very limited and small governments to protect their life and property. They keep the government small and relatively weak to ensure the government does not take their life or property. This system reflects the interests of the individual much more than the interests of the state.

A Level Playing Field

Choose from 5 political views

I believe the State must assure a government-controlled playing field is very regulated to ensure every individual gains an equal outcome and dignity.

I believe the State should highly regulate the private realm playing field to assure individuals that most people who take personal responsibility for their own lives have a good opportunity to succeed.

I believe the individual is responsible for their own dignity and the state should ensure the private realm playing field is level for everyone. If you work hard and take personal responsibility for your life you will have an excellent chance to achieve your goals and dignity.

I believe the family and individual is responsible for achieving their own level of success and dignity. The state should mostly protect character and faculties and refrain from regulating the private realm.

I believe the individual is responsible for achieving their own level of success and dignity. The private realm should be permitted to regulate itself. The state should only provide general security and not interfere with the private realm or its institutions.

Work, Responsibility, Self-sacrifice

Choose from 5 political views

The State values all cultural and character values equally, and does not value one work ethic or character trait over another. The State values each individual and does not require any personal responsibility, because the state is responsible for each individual.

The State takes care of all those who do not, or cannot, take responsibility for themselves. The State is like a grandmother and she will take very good care of all who turn to her for assistance. There is a generalized re-distribution of wealth, and the public welfare state cares for everyone.

The individual establishes the state to promote the general welfare. Individuals must work, take personal responsibility and practice self-sacrifice to achieve their chosen level of character, happiness and dignity. Any re-distribution of property comes with requirements for improved character and cultural values.

The sovereign individual and their community are responsible for their own success. The state may assist with public projects for the general welfare. There is no social engineering and little re-distribution of wealth by the state. The private realm should care for most of those in need.

The individual and their family are sovereign and the State should generally stay out of their search for and application of character, identity, happiness and dignity.

A More Perfect Union

Choose from 5 political views

I believe the National government should set national cultural values and laws that are followed by everyone. This will permit the National government to set the cultural values for everyone equally. All cultural identities are equal.

I believe the National government should take the lead on most cultural values and laws and let the states decide minor issues of concern to localities. Cultural identities are evaluated for effectiveness in their ability to bring happiness.

I believe that liberty is more likely when the majority in the state establish the cultural values for those who live in that state. This will permit the majority in that state to establish their own values for themselves - U.S. federalism in practice.

I believe individuals should be able to live in accordance with their own values - consistent with majority rule. For public laws, core and principled shared cultural values are the basis for a more perfect union. Individual sovereignty, majority rule and the rule of law are keys to forming a nation.

Fiscal Responsibility

The National government should be able to carry reasonable debt in order to meet all group social and economic welfare and entitlement purposes.

National government payments for any social or entitlement programs must be repaid in the same year it is incurred. General welfare and entitlement debt must be paid off within 3 years. No revolving fund or governmental Ponzi systems.

The National government should refrain from funding social or entitlement programs. General welfare debt is the only type of debt to be incurred by the National government. Only state governments should fund social (not entitlement) programs within their state.

Governments should not be involved in social or entitlement programs. The private realm should be responsible for social justice and entitlement programs as determined by the majority in the state.

I vote for the private realm to be reasonably regulated by the state to assure a level private realm playing field for all.

As the public sector is established to protect the faculties of individuals, I vote for the private realm to be very lightly regulated by the public sector, so individuals may live free within their private realm.

I vote for the private realm to be free, so individuals may live free.
